Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a surprise transfer move for Marc Cucurella.
The Red Devils' summer plans have been plunged into disarray after losing two of their left-backs to injury.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are currently both injured, with the latter expected to return to action later next month.
However, there is no return date for Shaw, who is understood to be battling a muscle injury, in a huge blow to Erik ten Hag.
According to Metro UK, Ten Hag was forced to assemble a makeshift back-four against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Diogo Dalot, who is naturally a right-back, playing on the left.
Man United interested in Marc Cucurella
Reports now claim that United have been forced to change their transfer plans and are in talks with Chelsea over the possible signing of Cucurella on loan.
The development comes after rumours emerged that the Red Devils are looking at signing former Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand who has been a free agent since leaving Leicester over the summer.
The Sun, citing transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, reports that Cucurella is the other player the Old Trafford dwellers have trained their eyes on.
It is believed that United have asked Chelsea about what the conditions would be to sign the Spain international.
Cucurella has endured a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge since joining the west London club from Brighton last summer.
