FootballArsenal Set ‘Unwanted’ Premier League Record After Draw vs Fulham
- Arsenal were forced to a 2-2 draw against Fulham on Saturday
- Perreira opened the scoring for the Cottagers inside the first minute of action
- The Gunners are scheduled to play Man United in their next EPL outing
Arsenal's perfect start to the new Premier League season was brought to a halt on Saturday, August 26, after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham.
The Gunners had won two of their opening matches of the campaign against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
Mikel Arteta's charges kicked off their season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham before stunning the Eagles 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
However, they were unable to build on the momentum this weekend as they dropped points against 10-man Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.
Sky Sports reports that former Man United ace Andreas Pereira handed the Cottagers an early lead before Bukayo Saka's penalty and a controversial Eddie Nketiah goal turned it around.
However, Joao Palhinha went on to find the back of the net deep in the second half to earn the visitors a vital point.
Arsenal set unwanted record
Metro UK reports that the outcome saw the north Londoners set an unwanted Premier League record.
According to the publication, Arsenal are now the first side in Premier League history to concede a first-minute goal on three occasions in the same calendar year.
Last season, Bournemouth needed just 9.11 seconds to find the back of the net against the English giants, who had a sloppy start to the match.
A similar incident was marked during their meeting with Southampton in the latter stages of the season when Carlos Alcaraz benefited from a wayward pass from Aaron Ramsdale to find the back of the net.
Arsenal will be hoping to avoid the same mistake when they take on rivals Manchester United in their next outing.
