Marco Verratti’s immediate future remains clouded in uncertainty following reports of him being surplus to requirement at French club Paris Saint Germain.
The 30-year-old midfielder who is now into his 12th season at the Ligue 1 giant, has been linked with moves away from PSG all summer, having been told he was not pivotal to the club’s set-up under new manager Luis Enrique.
Verratti, who was hinging closer to a move to the Middle East, now looks set to continue at PSG in a sudden turn of events after the Qatari club Al Arabi failed to reach an agreement for a move with the Parisian club.
Verratti to stay at PSG?
Reports from Le Parisien's Benjamin Quarez, quoted by PSGHub, states:
“Marco Verratti set to stay at PSG! This possibility is taking shape, with no progress made on a possible departure.”
Whilst the news of the Italian midfielder staying at the French club might interest a host of fans, it remains to be seen if he will be included in the plans of Luis Enrique.
Recent reports from French Football Weekly have stated that the Italian has been excluded from the recent squad set to face Lens.
It is reported that if the midfield star is not reinstated into the first-team fold at PSG, Verratti could explore alternative options, including moves to European rivals Manchester United or Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.
The central midfielder has so far made over 420 appearances for PSG, finding the back of the net 11 times for the Parisians.
