- The loss of Vinicius adds to Real Madrid’s growing list of injured players this season
Real Madrid suffered yet another injury woe this season after Vinicius Junior sustained a knock that ruled out the Brazilian forward for the rest of their tie against Celta Vigo.
The Brazilian international appeared to have tweaked the back of his right leg during the 13th minute of the game. He tried to continue but asked to be substituted about five minutes later.
According to Football Espana, Carlo Ancelotti has now revealed the injury to the Real Madrid forward is not as serious as feared and expects him to return after the international break.
“Vini won’t play against Getafe, but it doesn’t seem very serious. He wanted to play on, but we didn’t want to take a risk. He’ll be back after the international break.”
Real Madrid continued their exceptional start to the season by securing a 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, with Jude Bellingham scoring the only goal in Vinicius' absence.
Real Madrid’s injury woes grow
Meanwhile, it has been a horrid start to the 2023/24 campaign for Real Madrid with regard to injuries, as Vinicius Junior is the latest player to suffer another injury setback, Madrid Universal reports.
The La Liga giants lost the likes of Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler, and Ferland Mendy to injuries during pre-season, while the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao suffered season-ending injuries after both players tore their ACL.
Ancelotti has, however, insisted Real Madrid will not be forced to enter the transfer market to get new players due to the club’s injury crisis.
