FootballJeremy Doku: Viral Video of Winger in Action Shows Exactly What Man City Are Getting
- Jeremy Doku is officially a Manchester City player after the club completed his signing on Thursday, August 24
- The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad
- A video of his highlights as a Rennes player has excited Manchester City fans on social media
New Manchester City signing Jeremy Doku will cause problems for Premier League defences if a video doing rounds on social media is anything to go by.
After days of speculation, Manchester City finally announced that they had acquired their man from Ligue 1 side Rennes for £55.4m.
The Belgian scored 10 times in his 75 appearances in Ligue 1 over three seasons and earned 16 caps for his national side.
He becomes Pep Guardiola’s third major signing of the summer, after the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol, who joined City for £77m from RB Leipzig.
On paper, Doku is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left Manchester City to join Al-Ahli in the Saudi Arabia top flight.
City’s director of Football Txiki Begiristain was among the first to admit the winger had “raw talent”, and would likely perform well for the club as he continues to develop under Guardiola.
"In terms of raw attributes, he has everything a winger needs. He has outstanding pace and he is exceptional in one-on-one situations. He said as quoted on BBC.
Doku’s attributes
Begiristain was spot on with his take on Doku, as the winger is quite skilled on the flanks, as per a video that is doing rounds online.
Not only is he pacey, but the 21-year-old also has trickery in his locker and can beat defenders in one-on-one situations.
He also appears to be very good at opening up defenses with solo runs on the ball while cutting inside from the flanks.

FootballMike Dean admits mistake
Sports Brief also reported on Mike Dean’s blunt confession as he admitted to making a mistake in Chelsea’s game last season.
Dean was in charge of the VAR when Tottenham Hotspur visited Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the second game of the 2022/23 season. The teams played out to a pulsating two-all draw that was full of drama.
The climax of the drama came when Harry Kane got a 90 plus 6 equaliser. Tuchel and Chelsea were aggrieved that the goal was allowed to stand despite Cristian Romero clearly pulling Marc Cucurella's hair in the penalty area.
