In a video shared on social media, Mahrez took on his marker before brilliantly whipping the ball into the box with Kessie at the right place at the right time.

Al Ahli have now won three games in three matches and sit top of the table alongside Al Ittihad.

"Three valuable points, it was a wonderful night.. Thank you, Ahly fans," wrote the Ivorian midfielder on Twitter.

The Royals started their season with a 3-1 win over Al Hazm, a game in which Roberto Firmino netted a hat-trick, before defeating Al Khaleej by the same scoreline in their second match.

Al Ahli will next face Al Tai as their quest to win the Saudi Pro League continues.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Riyad Mahrez scored a stunning half-volley to open his goal-scoring account in the Saudi Pro League as Al Ahli defeated Al-Khaleej on Thursday night to go top of the table.

Having joined Al Ahli from Manchester City in the summer transfer window, the Algerian is already enjoying life in the Gulf after providing an assist in his first game before scoring in his second match.

Mahrez doubled his side's lead before halftime to add to Roger Ibanez's early opener.

Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie was treated to the rich Arabian culture following his arrival at Saudi club Al Ahli.

The 26-year-old joined Al Ahli SC from Spanish giants Barcelona on a three-year deal in a move reportedly worth 12.5 million euros.
