Al-Nassr have completed the signing of Manchester City defender, Aymeric Laporte after he spent five-and-a-half successful seasons with the reigning Premier League champions.
The Spanish defender has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad, losing his starting berth to Reuben Dias and John Stones last season, and making only 24 appearances in all competitions.
According to GOAL, Manchester City accepted a £23.5 million fee from Al-Nassr for Laporte, and the 29-year-old defender has penned a three-year deal with the Saudi Pro League club.
Laporte, who is set to earn an eye-watering salary of around £400,000 per week, will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane at Al Nassr. He joins Riyad Mahrez as the second Manchester City player to leave the treble winners for Saudi Arabia this summer.
Laporte joined Man City from Athletic Club in January 2018 for a then-club-record fee of £57 million and made a total of 180 appearances for the Cityzens.
Laporte leaves City a winner
Meanwhile, Laporte will leave Manchester City as one of the club’s best defenders in recent times after winning a total of 13 trophies in his five-and-a-half years with the Cityzens, the Independent reports.
The 29-year-old defender won a total of five English Premier League titles during his time in England and was a member of the squad that won Manchester City’s first UEFA Champions League trophy.
Laporte has sent his message of thanks to Manchester City supporters after he posted a goodbye message on social media as he claims he is proud of the years he spent at the Etihad Stadium.
