The 2023/24 season has kicked off fully across Europe, but the transfer market is still very active. Some players are still trying to switch teams, while others are looking to be picked up after being released.

Each summer, clubs around the world release their squad list. This details the players the club has sold or let go on a free transfer.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United, among many other European top clubs, had clearouts this summer, with some big names leaving their squads.

According to Sportskeeda, some players have made moves as free agents following their contracts expiring this summer, including Ilkay Gundogan, who joined Barcelona from Manchester.

Some others, however, have not been as lucky to find a new team. Sports Brief lists the top five players yet to find new clubs this summer.

5. Jesse Lingard

When Jesse Lingard signed a one-year deal with Nottingham Forest, it appeared like a terrific signing that would evolve into a lengthier deal if Forest stayed up.

Lingard, on the other hand, was not a starter when Forest's form improved and they stayed in the top flight.

As a result, Forest chose not to extend Lingard's contract, and he is now without a club. Lingard had a very successful loan spell with West Ham United the previous season, scoring nine goals and assisting four in 16 league games.

4. Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez is one of the top players in Europe currently without a club this summer after his contract with French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille expired.

The 34-year-old forward has played for Inter Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Barcelona in the past, but finding a new club has proven to be a bit more difficult for the Chilean forward.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan CEO Marotta confirmed that Sanchez wants to return to the Serie A giants this summer.

3. David de Gea

David de Gea has been Manchester United's number-one goalkeeper since the 2011/12 season. Since then, he has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League.

With United signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan this summer, De Gea was released by the Red Devils after 12 seasons at Old Trafford.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been linked with some top teams, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan, but none have signed him so far and he remains in the free market.

2. Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos' speculated move to Besiktas is off the table, but the former Real Madrid defender appears to be heading to Turkey nonetheless, AS Soccer reports.

Despite receiving a contract offer of €23 million per year from Saudi Arabia, the 37-year-old remains without a club after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

The most feasible option for Ramos right now is to join Galatasaray, who are struggling to qualify for the Champions League, a competition the defender is quite familiar with after winning it four times with Real Madrid.

1. Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard was one of the Premier League's most skilled players. He scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in 37 Premier League appearances for Chelsea the season before he joined Real Madrid.

However, things did not work out for the Belgian international in Spain, as he failed to play over 20 league games in any of the seasons he stayed there, scoring just four goals.

Many would believe that at 32 years old, Hazard still has life in him, and whether he stays in Europe or not, if a team can resurrect the old Hazard, they will have a magnificent player.

Eden Hazard considering retirement

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Eden Hazard’s decline from one of Europe’s best stars to one walking in the football abyss remains high on the list of football’s grace to grass stories.

The 32-year-old former Chelsea star was once at the top of the world of football and even secured a move to La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid for a club record ₤145 million, despite having a year left on his Chelsea contract.

Hazard is still without a club this summer, and it’s proving to be much more difficult to find one than the forward might have imagined.
