FootballMbappe Receives Just One Vote From PSG Teammates in Captaincy Selection
- PSG stars do not appear keen to have Kylian Mbappe serve as their captain
- It has been reported that only one player voted for the Frenchman as skipper
- Mbappe has not renewed his contract and his fate at PSG hangs in the balance
Paris Saint-Germain players reportedly took part in a captaincy vote for this season and Kylian Mbappe ended up in fourth place with a solitary vote.
It is not expected that the Frenchman will wear the armband for his club as the drama surrounding his contract renewal continues.
According to RMC Sport, cited by Sportskeeda, PSG players voted for their captain this season and the 24-year-old was only endorsed by one of his teammates.
Last season, Mbappe assumed the role of vice-captain and led the team as captain on numerous occasions.
However, his prolonged transfer saga involving Real Madrid appears to have negatively impacted his perception among teammates.
Based on the outcome of the voting carried out by PSG players, Mbappe found himself trailing behind Marquinhos, Danilo Pereira, and Prinsel Kimpembe. The three of them secured the top three positions in that order.
The report further claims that Achraf Hakimi, a close friend of the Frenchman, was the sole individual who opted for Mbappe.
The PSG squad seems to believe that Mbappe is set to depart Paris, as it seems only a matter of time before he ultimately links up with Real Madrid, per Tribuna.
Despite being recently reintegrated into the first team, the forward's future remains uncertain.
Mbappe’s future not clear
Meanwhile, PSG does not want to lose Mbappe for free, with the Frenchman yet to renew his deal while entering the final months of his contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
According to SB Nation, the 24-year-old forward has rejected three renewal offers, the last of which is a five-year contract, as speculation surrounds his future with the Paris club.
