  • Aurelien Tchouameni seems to be a fan of Wizkid, as the footballer was seen singing along to the song ‘Jaiye Jaiye’
  • A video of Tchouameni singing along to the song has gone viral hours after Burna Boy berated Afrobeats
  • The internet was sent into a meltdown after the ‘Last Last’ crooner said that Afrobeats lack substance

Hours after Burna Boy condemned Afrobeats, Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni was spotted singing ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ by Wizkid.

Grammy award-winning artiste Burna Boy set the internet agog on Tuesday night when he branded Afrobeats as ‘nothing’, saying the music genre lacks substance.

The ‘Ye’ crooner further stated that most Afrobeats songs fail to capture real-life experiences and only portray a fantastic time that life is not all about.

In an interview with Apple Music, Burna Boy said:

“Not even experience, because half of them, like 90% of them, have no real-life experience that they can understand.
“That’s why you hear most Nigerian music, African Music, or Afrobeats, as you people call it, is mostly about nothing, absolutely nothing. There is no substance to it, like nobody is talking about anything, it’s just a great time. But at the end of the day, life isn’t an amazing time.”

Afrobeats have continued to gain international recognition, and a clip has since gone viral showing France international Tchouameni singing ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ by Wizkid.

And fans have continued to react to the clip. One said:

“This boy na Yoruba boy hear as e Dey sing word for word.”

Another added:

“I think he listen too many afrobeats songs, yesterday nah “feel” by Davido.”

A fan wrote:

“This guy was not even a teenager yet when this song was released, that tells you how evergreen and timeless Wizkid's songs are.”

Tchouameni on Liverpool’s radar

Sports Brief earlier reported that Liverpool are desperate to bolster their midfield this season and have identified Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a major target.

After losing their top two transfer targets, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, to Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in a marquee player to toughen up their midfield.

The Reds are willing to offer up to €100mil to Real Madrid for Tchouameni, who has made 51 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga giants.
