- Moises Caicedo had a debut to forget after moving to Chelsea for a British record £115m
- The former Brighton midfielder conceded a late penalty in the 3-1 loss to West Ham
- He appears to have put that behind him ahead of the next game against Luton Town
Moises Caicedo appears to have forgotten about his poor debut for Chelsea as he dazzles in training ahead of what could potentially be his full debut against Luton Town on Friday.
Caicedo joined Chelsea for £115m from Brighton, a British transfer record. The blues stalled on the Seagulls' initial valuation of £100m, allowing Liverpool to attempt a hijack, leading to a bidding war.
He made his debut off the bench in the 3-1 loss to West Ham, and the late penalty he conceded wrapped up the win for the East London club and led to trolls from rival fans.
The day was made even worse for Mauricio Pochettino's team after Enzo Fernandez, who cost the club £106.8m in January, missed a penalty that could have handed a lead to the team in the first half, and goalscorer Carney Chukwuemeka walked off injured.
Caicedo scores brilliant training goal
The team is back at their training facility in Cobham, preparing for the visit of newly-promoted Luton Town on Friday for a chance to bounce back after one point from their two opening games.
As seen in a video shared on Chelsea's official Twitter, Caicedo was in high spirits in training and scored a brilliant goal, appearing unbothered by his poor debut.
He scored two goals in training, the first after flooring academy striker Mason Burstow with brilliant footwork and blasting into the net with his left foot, and the second coming from hitting the ball directly from a tackle.
Arsenal hold off Forest, Brighton teach Luton a Premier League lesson
FootballThe Ecuadorian was not the only midfield recruit this summer; Romeo Lavia was signed from Southampton days after. Despite initial claims Eden Hazard was influential in the deal, The Athletic reported that Caicedo was just as pivotal, convincing the 19-year-old how much he wants to play with him.
Chelsea unveil Caicedo with Afrobeat
Sports Brief reported that Chelsea unveiled Moises Caicedo with a Nigerian song from Pheelz and BNXN titled Finesse, and for those who understand, it passed a message.
The song preaches going all out for what you want, even if it means going broke later, and that is what the Blues did. It also connotes not falling in love with who doesn't want you, in the case of Liverpool agreeing on a fee with Brighton despite Caicedo preferring Chelsea.
