  • Raheem Sterling has asked his Chelsea teammates to be more clinical in front of goal
  • Mauricio Pochettino's side were beaten by West Ham, despite having the better chances
  • Sterling was Chelsea's best player on the day, with the winger looking like his old self

Raheem Sterling has opened up on Chelsea's early season challenges after a relatively poor start to the season. Mauricio Pochettino has only collected one point from the first two games despite making the club play attractive football.

He battled out to a one-all draw with Liverpool on his debut before going down to West Ham on Sunday in a London derby.

The West Ham defeat stung and offered a quick reminder to the Argentine of the competitiveness of the Premier League. The Blues dominated possession but could only breach Alphonse Areola's goal once in 15 attempts.

They had the chance to go 2-1 ahead before halftime, but January signing and World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez saw his penalty kick thwarted by an inspired Areola.

Sterling reveals Chelsea's problem

Speaking after the game, Sterling called on his teammates to be more ruthless in front of goal to avoid such scenarios.

"It is a difficult one to take. Dominating a game at a ground like West Ham's, you have got to take your chances, this is the Premier League and it will come back to haunt you. When that second goal went in, it was a downer, as we have not taken our chances and they took theirs."
"We dominated the game and physically, we are better; we just need to cut out some of the sloppy play," said England international, as quoted by Football London.

Despite the defeat, Sterling arguably played his best game for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City last season. The 28-year-old looked dangerous every time he was on the ball.

The West London side will have an opportunity to make amends with three back-to-back fixtures at Stamford Bridge. They play Luton this Friday before facing AFC Wimbledon next week in the Carabao Cup. They will then host Nottingham Forrest before the international break.

Rival fans troll Caicedo

Sports Brief reported that Caicedo was subjected to trolling by rival fans after the British record transfer signing conceded a late penalty while his team was chasing an equaliser.

His cameo in the game was not impressive, albeit he is still settling into his new environment. However, that is a meal for rival fans who showed no mercy to the 21-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder.
