FootballJames Maddison Calls out Fan Who Claimed He Used to Be a Gooner
- James Maddison has been an instant hit at Tottenham Hotspur after moving from Leicester City
- The midfielder has played in two league games under Angelos "Ange" Postecoglou
- He recently took to social media to hit out at a fan who claimed he was previously an Arsenal fan
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, James Maddison showed his savage side on social media after calling out a fan who claimed he was an Arsenal fan in the past.
The England international appears to have already won the hearts of Spurs fans after solid performances in his first two games in the North Londoners’ colours.
Maddison signed a five-year deal with Spurs after leaving relegated Leicester City, who raked in £40m for his sale.
After yet another impressive showing in Postecoglou’s first win in charge of the club against Manchester United, Maddison earned plaudits online. An Instagram account named @spursarmy pointed out the 26-year-old’s passion for his new club.
But a different fan was quick to dampen the spirits by controversially stating that the midfielder was previously affiliated with Arsenal.
“Given he was a Gooner, this is fire,” the user said.
Maddison did not take the comment lying down, as he presumably understands the rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal, and he decided to correct the fan by saying:
“I’ve never in my life been a Gooner, just for the record.”
Maddison facing injury test
Meanwhile, despite his impressive performances in Spurs colours, Maddison is now facing a late injury test after sustaining a knock in the win against Manchester United.
While he initially told journalists that he was not facing any injuries, The Athletic reports that he is set to undergo scans on Tuesday.
The issue is a suspected foot problem.
