Mauricio Pochettino has rated Moises Caicedo's performance after the midfielder made his debut for Chelsea on Sunday, August 20, against West Ham United.

Caicedo sealed a sensational move to Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Blues forking out a British record fee of £115m to land his services.

Liverpool were initially in a pole position to sign the Ecuadorian before the West Londoners beat their Premier League rivals to the signing of the former Brighton star.

According to Sky Sports, Caicedo penned an eight-year contract with the 2021 Champions League winners after his move.

However, he had a debut to forget at the London Stadium after he came on for Ben Chilwell in the 61st minute of the London derby.

The Ecuador international was brought on while Chelsea were trailing 2-1, and West Ham down to 10 men.

However, he clumsily brought down Emerson inside the box to win the hosts a penalty, which Lucas Paqueta fired home to help the Hammers stun Chelsea.

Pochettino rates Caicedo's debut

Pochettino had no kind words when he was quizzed about Caicedo conceding a penalty in his post-match interview, with the Argentine admitting the incident negatively impacted the game.

"It was a very negative impact to the team," Poch said via Metro UK.

However, the former Tottenham boss was quick to back his new signing to come back good after his major blunder on his debut.

"He was telling us he was ready, I think 30 minutes is good for him, many positive things and he is maybe disappointed but we need to move on and he will be a good player for us," he added.

Chelsea unveils Caicedo with Afrobeat

Sports Brief reported that Chelsea unveiled Moises Caicedo with a Nigerian song from Pheelz and BNXN titled Finesse, and for those who understand, it passed a message.

The song preaches going all out for what you want, even if it means going broke later, and that is what the Blues did. It also connotes not falling in love with who doesn't want you, in the case of Liverpool agreeing on a fee with Brighton despite Caicedo preferring Chelsea.
