FootballBlow to Greenwood as Man United Reportedly Make U-Turn on His Future at the Club
- Mason Greenwood has not played for Manchester United since January 2022
- The striker was suspended after he was arrested to face a number of charges
- United initiated an internal probe into the matter after the charges were dropped in February
Manchester United have reportedly performed a U-turn on the future of Mason Greenwood at the club.
The English striker's future at Old Trafford was plunged into uncertainty following his arrest back in January 2022.
Greenwood was apprehended to face a string of charges, including assault and coercive behaviour.
However, the young forward was let off the hook earlier in the year after the prosecution dropped the charges.
According to Metro UK, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the charges against him had all been discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Be that as it may, United are yet to reintegrate the striker back into the squad despite the club's need to reinforce their attack this summer.
Man United makes U-turn on Greenwood's future
United were initially said to be working on a modality to have Greenwood back into the squad.
So much so that the Manchester club included the academy graduate in the men's squad for the 2023/24 on the club's official website.
However, it has now emerged that United chiefs have made a dramatic u-turn on Greenwood's future at the Theater of Dreams.
According to The Sun, United CEO Richard Arnold was tasked with the responsibility of making a final decision on the 21-year-old's return after concluding an internal probe.
Arnold was understandably expected to announce the comeback of Greenwood in the coming days.
But the club is said to have rescinded that decision following a backlash that emerged from a section of fans after it emerged there were plans to reintroduce the youngster.

FootballSports Brief also reported on Manchester United’s decision to drop Mason Greenwood’s shirts from their official kit launch for the 2023/24 season.
This means supporters will not be able to get a shirt with Greenwood's name on the back after it was omitted from the launch.
All other names from the senior men's and women's sides are available, but Greenwood is not included.
