David Beckham could not hide his joy after watching Lionel Messi lead Inter Miami to their first-ever title in the Leagues Cup final.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner scored a screamer as Inter Miami defeated Nashville SC on penalties to win the Cup competition, his first since moving to the United States.

It took Messi only seven games to make history, after netting ten times in the Leagues Cup to help the Beckham-owned club to victory.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Beckham was spotted sharing a heartwarming moment with Messi, as he gave him a huge hug to appreciate his efforts for the team.

Meanwhile, in an exciting finale, Miami scored in the first-half through Messi before Fafa Picault levelled for Nashville in the second-half to force the game into extra-time.

Goalkeeper Drake Callender became the hero for Miami in the shootouts after saving Elliot Panicco's spot-kick to hand his side the trophy.

It was Messi's 44th career title as well as his first since moving to North America, as reported by the Sunday Standard.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Lionel Messi has been crowned the best player in the just ended Leagues Cup after leading Inter Miami to their first-ever title following victory over Nashville SC.

The Argentina legend also won the goal king award, with ten goals in seven matches.

Messi scored a screamer in the final to open the scoring form Inter Miami, but Fafa Picault levelled after the break to send the game into extra-time before it was eventually decided on penalties.

Lionel Messi crowned an amazing Leagues Cup tournament with a sensational strike as Inter Miami defeated Nashville SC to win the competition.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner opened the scoring after dazzling his way through a number of defenders before curling from outside the box to break the game's deadlock.

Nashville pulled level in the second half through Fafa Picault to send the game into extra-time, before it was eventually settled on penalties.
