  • Al-Nassr welcomed Al Taawoun to the KSU Stadium on Friday in the Saudi Pro League
  • The match ended with the away team recording a 2-0 victory against Cristiano Ronaldo's side
  • A fan alerted Al-Nassr's goalkeeper to clear the ball as he seemed unaware that the game had already begun

Al-Nassr goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah narrowly escaped a potentially embarrassing mishap during the initial minute of their Saudi Pro League match against Al Taawoun on Friday.

Cristiano Ronaldo rejoined Al Nassr's lineup following his absence due to injury during their 2-1 loss to Al Ettifaq led by Steven Gerrard on Monday.

With Alex Telles, Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic also part of the team, manager Luis Castro formed an offensive-oriented lineup to face Al Taawoun, who managed a draw in their first game of the 2023/24 season.

However, defensive concerns arose early on, when one of Al Nassr's defenders sent a backpass to goalkeeper Abdullah.

The issue, though, arose from the fact that the goalkeeper was walking back to his goal, facing away from the ongoing play.

While he directed his attention towards the spectators, a particular fan took it upon themselves to vocally call out Abdullah's first name multiple times, aiming to notify him about the situation unfolding behind him.

Fortunately, the ball was gradually moving wide of the goalpost, sparing the situation.

However, the goalkeeper promptly intervened, preventing the ball from rolling out for a corner, bringing him a significant sense of relief.

However, Abdullah later conceded two goals during the match.

Leandre Tawamba and Ahmed Bahusayn both scored, giving Al Taawoun an unexpected triumph.

The victory left Al-Nassr without a point in the current season's Saudi Pro League so far.

Fans roast Ronaldo

Social media critics have labelled Cristiano Ronaldo 'finished' after he squandered a one-on-one chance in Al-Nassr's loss to Al Taawoun, Sports Brief earlier reported.

After leading his team to victory in the Arab Club Champions Cup the previous weekend, Ronaldo and his teammates have now faced consecutive defeats in the Saudi Pro League.

Leandre Tawamba grabbed the opener in the 20th minute, and the visiting team secured a triumphant three points in the final moments of stoppage time, courtesy of Ahmed Bahusayn's successful strike.
