The world’s football governing body, FIFA, has hailed the late Nigerian legend Stephen Keshi who passed away in 2016.
FIFA shared a clip from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where Argentina defeated Nigeria 3-2 in the group stage.
Ahmed Musa grabbed a brace in the pulsating encounter, and it was his second goal that FIFA is reminiscing about.
The forward struck an equaliser yet again, and cameras captured how calm Keshi was on the bench despite the jubilation by the technical crew, including his then-assistant, Daniel Amokachi.
Lionel Messi and Musa scored two goals each in the encounter, but it was Marcos Rojo’s 50th-minute strike that won it for the South Americans.
Sharing the clip on Instagram, FIFA added the caption:
“Stephen Keshi always kept his cool.”
The former Nigerian soccer star and head coach of the country's national team, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the age of 54.
He was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994, and he also led the Super Eagles to glory in 2013 as the manager.
