The former Wydad AC goalkeeper enjoyed a successful career in Spain, where he featured for Atletico Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Girona and Sevilla. He was the best goalkeeper in La Liga in 2021 and played a heroic role as Sevilla defeated AS Roma to win the Europa League last season.
"From the first day he arrived in Sevilla, he had the conviction that he was going to succeed. Something different was going to happen in my football career. In those 4 years I dedicated all of my life to Sevilla. To be on top. I will love the Seville supporters until my last day. The love they gave me was something abnormal. Manchester Day at home was something else too. The atmosphere there marked me. To all the professionals who shared the day to day with me I love you very much. And I love the workers even more! THANK YOU my Sevilla. I LOVE YOU," wrote Bounou on Instagram as he bid farewell to the Spanish giants.
Bounou was one of Morocco's stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as the North Africans became the first country from the continent to reach the semi-final of the global showpiece.
