  • Pitso Mosimane has won 19 trophies throughout his career as a manager
  • Mosimane is looking to add to that total when he takes charge of Al Wahda
  • Using Pep Guardiola as an example, Mosimane cited why teamwork was important

Pitso Mosimane is a serial winner, but he knows he couldn’t have achieved it without a good team around him as well.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss has won 19 trophies throughout his managerial career so far, and he’s eager to add more to that with his new club, Al Wahda FC.

Mosimane will oversee his first season in charge of the United Arab Emirates side, after leaving Al Ahli Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

He aims to continue his success by following the same principles he used at previous teams.

As noted by iDiskiTimes, Mosimane talked up his title success, saying that he comes from a culture that likes to win.

“I always aspire to win titles. I come from a culture and mindset that seeks titles. I am positive and optimistic about our ability to win one or two titles with Al-Wahda. It would be great to win the league because it’s a priority,” he said.

He also used Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as an example that a club’s success wasn’t solely because of the manager.

“I am humble. A coach doesn’t win championships alone because he is a good coach, but because he has a comprehensive system and good players. Pep Guardiola doesn’t win with Manchester City alone, but because he has Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne,” he explained.

He added that his winning philosophy could not be achieved by him alone, but that it was up to the players to have the same desire.

Mosimane will kick off his campaign in the UAE when his Al Wahda side takes on Al Bataeh on August 18.

Mosimane lands new coaching job

It hasn’t taken Pitso Mosimane long to find a new job.

The South African coach recently parted ways with Al-Ahli Saudi in Saudi Arabia and has already found a new home in the Middle East.

Mosimane has been appointed as the new head coach of Al Wahda FC. The side which finished third in the UAE Pro League last season confirmed the signing via social media, Sports Brief reported.
