  • Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Romeo Lavia from Southampton
  • The Blues beat Liverpool to the talented Belgian midfielder and to Moises Caicedo
  • Chelsea couldn't resist throwing shade at the Reds with the announcement of Lavia

Chelsea's media and communications team are having the time of their lives, especially with their recent announcement video aiming a shot at Liverpool and rival fans criticising their transfer business.

The Blues have been on a spending spree since the arrival of Todd Boehly and co as owners, far in excess of what former chief, Roman Abramovich, did despite the Russian oligarch's ruthless approach.

According to Transfer News Live, Todd Boehly has sanctioned transfers worth £879 million in three transfer windows he has overseen as Chelsea co-owner, raising concerns over FFP compliance.

However, Chelsea believes they have complied with financial regulations after also selling players this summer, especially academy star, Mason Mount, who helped add £60mil straight profit to the books.

Chelsea aims dig at Liverpool

Chelsea released a 21-second video on social media to announce the arrival of new signing, Romeo Lavia, showing the player on an evening at the Cobham training facility after completing his medical last night.

The background song was Central Cee's 6 for 6 and it passed two messages: first - 'Put in the work for years for this, this ain't no coincidence', lyrics that exemplify Lavia's journey after Pep Guardiola discovered him at the KDB Cup for under-15s in Belgium.

The second part of the lyrics, which say, 'Bad B's, they curved the kid', is taken as a dig at Liverpool, who were seen as frontrunners for the deal despite Chelsea having a £50mil bid for the player rejected last summer.

Somehow, the Blues' midfield three could all have been Reds were the Merseysiders not beaten to Lavia and Caicedo - and had they not rejected a chance to sign Enzo Fernandez for £15m last summer, as reported by Liverpool Echo.

Chelsea unveil Caicedo with Afrobeats

Sports Brief also reported on Chelsea unveiling new star Caicedo with a Nigerian song from Pheelz and BNXN, titled Finesse - and for those who understand, it passed a message.

The song preaches going all out for what you want, even if it means going broke later, and that is what the Blues did. It also connotes not falling in love with someone who doesn't want you, perhaps in the case of Liverpool agreeing on a fee with Brighton despite Caicedo preferring Chelsea.
