Zambian Premier League outfit NAPSA Stars have confirmed the signing of 27-year-old Nigerian striker Nazim Amokachi.
Nazim is one of the twin sons of former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi, who is one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers.
The forward decided to leave the Nigeria Professional Football League club Lobi Stars this summer to play in the Zambian league.
He signed a two-year deal with the club as he was unveiled on Thursday, August 17, along with Zambian striker Saith Sakala.
Ponga Liwewe, the club’s chief executive officer, is delighted about the new signings, believing they will bolster the squad ahead of the forthcoming season.
He told the club’s official website via Zamfoot:
“We have strengthened our squad with these two exceptional players, and we are confident that their contributions on and off the field will play a pivotal role in our success this upcoming season.”
NAPSA Stars FC finished fifth on the log last season, but are all set to kick off the 2023/24 MTN Super League season with an electrifying home match against ZESCO United FC.
In 2016, Amokachi expressed delight after his twin sons Nazim and Kalim Amokachi completed a move to join Turkish champions Besiktas.
But the pair have not been able to replicate such a high pedestal even though their father has started carving a niche for himself in coaching, being one of the very few African coaches heading a European club.
Amokachi laments Nigeria’s poor developmental structure
Sports Brief earlier reported that Daniel Amokachi once lamented that the country threw away the developmental structure, which is now affecting sporting activities.
