FootballHarry Kane: Bayern Munich Striker Sets Condition to Win Ballon d’Or After Leaving Tottenham
- Harry Kane is gearing up for his Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich
- The English striker made an £86 million move after 19 years at Tottenham
- He has already set ambitious targets despite losing the German Super Cup in his first game
Harry Kane has set an ambitious target for himself after making a lucrative switch from Tottenham to German champions Bayern Munich.
The English striker spent 19 years at Tottenham, having joined as an academy boy in 2004, and became the club's all-time top scorer before leaving.
The only stain on his career is that he has yet to win trophies despite being one of football's greatest goalscorers. He came close to doing it on a few occasions, particularly in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final, but fell short.
His first game for the Bavarians presented an opportunity for a trophy, but he fell short once again after a crushing 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig thanks to Dani Olmo's hat-trick, as noted by Sports Illustrated.
Kane eyes Ballon d'Or
The German Super Cup loss is not deterring Kane from setting further targets for himself at Bayern Munich, and now he is eyeing football's most coveted individual trophy.
"If you are winning your league and the Champions League, and obviously we as England have the European Championship next summer as well... as we've seen with the Ballon d'Or, you have to be winning team trophies to achieve that," he said via Sportskeeda.
As much as team achievement is important, he understands he must be at the forefront of it to be considered.
"If I'm scoring goals and we are winning trophies, then that will come into question, but it is not really what my focus is on now," he added.
He scored 30 league goals last season, enough to win the Bundesliga top scorer in seven of the past 10 seasons.
