- He held his first pre-match conference and detailed the difficulties of the past two years
Lionel Messi's last two years were not exactly the easiest of his club football career and he has revealed why it was difficult for him to adapt to the club after joining on a quick decision.
Messi is enjoying his start to life in Miami, having joined in July after running down his Paris Saint-Germain contract and turning down a world-record salary at Al-Hilal.
He has scored nine goals in his first six games, all of which have come in the Leagues Cup to help the club reach the final, where they will play Nashville SC on Saturday.
His league debut could have come two days ago, but the match was moved due to Miami's involvement in the latter stages of the cup competition.
Messi reveals difficulty at PSG
One of the biggest news in 2021 was that Messi would not continue at Barcelona after the club could not register his new contract due to financial issues.
He moved to Paris Saint-Germain and signed a two-year contract to reunite with his friend and former teammate Neymar Jr, and although he won Ligue 1 twice, he didn't quite enjoy it, and he has disclosed why.
“My move to PSG was not something that was desired by me, I never wanted to leave Barcelona,” he told a press conference via Republic World.
“It was from one day to the next. I had to quickly get used to a new place after so many years in Barcelona. It became difficult, but luckily it is very different from what is happening to me now in Miami, thanks to God.”
