La Liga President, Javier Tebas, has been heavily criticized for agreeing to a sponsorship deal with Visit Saudi. The partnership is aimed at showcasing Saudi Arabia as a tourist destination where football meshes with culture.
Saudi Arabia have ramped up their investment in sports in the last few years. A few months ago, Lionel Messi controversially made an unauthorized trip to the Middle Eastern country to promote it as a pristine destination.

Javier Tebas called out
After the news broke, fans immediately criticized Tebas for his hypocrisy. He recently called out the Saudi Arabian government for using sports to "whitewash" its image.

The 61-year-old is unhappy with the current trend that has seen La Liga ranked behind the Premier League and Saudi Pro League in the list of highest-spending leagues in the summer transfer window.
Tebas trolls Man City
