  • Liverpool finished in fifth place in the English Premier League last season
  • The Reds still have a potent squad despite several departures in the summer
  • Some fans have an interesting theory on why their club will now win the EPL

Liverpool fans have come up with an interesting theory on why they could win the 2023/24 Premier League - and it all has to do with their potential signing, Wataru Endo.

The Japanese star, currently with German outfit Stuttgart, is not a young prospect but the Reds could use a midfielder of his stature, especially with the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Not only is Endo brilliant in the holding midfield role, but the fact that he is 30 also means the experience he could bring to Anfield could be a game-changer for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp, Adam Lallana, and Mohamed Salah celebrate with the Premier League trophy after Liverpool's match against Chelsea at Anfield on July 22, 2020.

If the deal is successful, the Japan international will be Liverpool’s third major signing after the acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, as cited by SportBible.

Amid reports by Sky Sports about Endo potentially signing for the club, some staunch Liverpool fans have now come up with a bizarre theory on why the 30-year-old’s arrival could see them win the EPL title.

In 2019, Jurgen Klopp signed Takumi Minamino and they went on to win the league in the same season (2019/20).

Fans now believe there is a Japanese connection between Klopp’s teams and top flight success, as it was also observed that during his two title-winning campaigns with Borussia Dortmund, he had another Japanese international on his team in the form of Shinji Kagawa.

Liverpool started their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against familiar foes Chelsea, although they were second-best for large parts of the game.

Klopp will hope to bounce back to winning ways when the Reds come up against Bournemouth on August 19.

Rating football's most successful managers

Sports Brief also reported on the most successful managers in football history following Pep Guardiola’s UEFA Super Cup win with Manchester City.

The Spanish manager has achieved many remarkable victories over the past decade and a half, including his tenures at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
