A Manchester United top official has broken the silence over Mason Greenwood's situation at the club.
The youngster is yet to be re-integrated back into the team months after the charges he was facing were dropped.
United are understood to have initiated a private probe into the matter to determine Greenwood's fate at Old Trafford.
However, The Sun reports that the Red Devils are yet to make a decision regarding the striker, with all signs indicating that the Englishman will continue at the Theatre of Dreams.
Eagle-eyed fans were recently able to note that United had included the England international in their men's squad for the 2023/24 campaign on the club's official website.
With all indications pointing at Greenwood making a return, a section of supporters staged a protest outside Old Trafford prior to their Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday night.
The supporters openly protested against Greenwood's imminent return to action.
United chief gives Greenwood update
With Man United still tight-lipped on the matter, Collette Roche, the club's chief operating officer, has touched on Greenwood's future.
"We’ve done a really detailed and thorough internal investigation and we’ve asked as many people as we can around what happened and try to understand it beyond the original investigation done by the police," Roche told The Athletic.
"You’d expect us to engage with people who were relevant in terms of stakeholder groups. And now we just need to make the decision. That decision is firmly a decision that’s on us," she added.
Greenwood has not played for the Red Devils for more than a year and a half, with his last appearance coming back in January 2022 when he was arrested.
