FootballBarcelona Yet to Finalise Registration of New Signing Amid Club’s Ailing Finance

- The La Liga champions are faced with financial difficulties
- The Catalan club recently activated another economic lever
Catalan giants Barcelona are still yet to completely register their first team squad ahead of match round two of the 2023/24 La Liga season.
Xavi Hernandez’s side had to do without a couple of their players heading into the season opener against Getafe and looks set to continue this trajectory, with the club’s ailing finance not helping the charge to secure the registration of all players.
According to reports from Sport, the Blaugrana are confident of registering two more players this week, which would likely be second-choice goalkeeper Inaki Pena and left-back Marcos Alonso.
New signing Inigo Martinez, who joined Barcelona from Athletic Club this summer, still has a foot problem that has left him sidelined. He may have to wait a little for the club’s accountant to work out a little mystic accounting before he can get registered.
Despite the club’s current difficulty, Barcelona have consistently been linked with signing new players.
Barcelona to complete more signings?
The La Liga giants last week sold a part of its club studios – a strategic move which has, thus far, facilitated the successful registration of several players. Additionally, the club had to make the decision to register young talents Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal as members of the B team.
This decision aims to utilise the vacancies created by their exclusion to potentially register a few new signings.
However, according to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona remains linked with a few new signings.
It remains to be seen if the Catalan club has the financial power to get these deals over the line, factoring in their unhealthy financial situation.
Barcelona to submit Cancelo bid
Sports Brief in a previous report stated Barcelona are not giving up on Cancelo in the summer, having resumed talks with Man City over the transfer of the Portuguese defender.
