Lionel Messi has some of his old guards as a company at Inter Miami and together they are changing the club's fortune, having now reached the Leagues Cup final.
Messi's debut came in the cup competition against Cruz Azul. In his six games so far, he has scored in every one of them to help the club at the bottom of the Eastern Conference to the final.
As noted by ESPN, the Argentina captain has scored nine goals in six games to tie Josef Martinez as the club's top scorer this season, despite the Venezuelan star playing 24 games more.
According to BBC Sports, this is Inter Miami's first-ever final, having been founded five years ago.
They have consequently qualified for the CONCACAF Champions Cup next season, which may open up a route into FIFA's expanded Club World Cup in 2025.

Jordi Alba scored his first goal for the club in his third game to make the score 3-0 in the closing seconds of the first half after his former Barcelona teammate had made it 2-0.
The 2022 World Cup winner acknowledged the team's effort in reaching the 42nd final of his career and also noted there is one more step to go before securing his first silverware with the club.
The Spanish left-back surprisingly made no mention of his first goal, as he was likely too soaked up in the euphoria of reaching the final. He also urged the team to fight together for the final.
Alba elated to reunite with Messi and Busquets at Inter Miami
FootballNashville will host the final on Sunday after beating Monterrey 2-0. The two teams are wide apart on the MLS table, with the Tennessee club fourth on the log and Miami at the bottom.

Sports Brief also reported on Messi partying with David Beckham and co at a steakhouse owned by David Grutman in Miami after helping the club advance to the Leagues Cup semi-finals.
The Argentine veteran was in the company of his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo. Sergio Busquets and his wife were also present, with Jordi Alba and Victoria Beckham completing their group.
