Initially joining PSG as the most expensive signing in football history, the 31-year-old was expected to lead the team; however, over time, the spotlight shifted to Kylian Mbappe, who emerged as the superstar of Parc des Princes, Besoccer reports.

After a span of six seasons, the Brazilian international is departing for Saudi Arabia. This move follows an agreement between Al-Hilal and the French club, resulting in a transfer valued at nearly 100 million euros.

Neymar will now join the ranks of accomplished figures such as the reigning Ballon d'Or holder, Karim Benzema; two-time African Player of the Year, Sadio Mane; and N'Golo Kante; all of whom have followed the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by venturing from Europe to embrace the wealth of the oil-rich nation.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the 2015 Champions League winner has joined the Saudi giants on a groundbreaking $300 million package for a record-breaking salary over the course of two years, without the provision for an extension.

With the inclusion of supplementary factors and commercial agreements, his earnings have the potential to reach an impressive $400 million in total by the year 2025.

The negotiation was orchestrated by his father, Neymar Pai, and the renowned super agent, Pini Zahavi.

"I am here in Saudi Arabia, I am Hilali," Neymar said in a video posted to Al Hilal's social media accounts.

Neymar quits PSG for Al-Hilal

Brazil forward Neymar has signed for Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain, the clubs announced on Tuesday. He joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema as the latest big name to be lured to the oil-rich Gulf state.

He won five Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups in Paris, but was on the losing side as PSG were beaten by Bayern Munich in the 2020 Champions League final.

Gerrard speaks about Neymar move

Sports Brief also reported that Al-Ettifaq’s coach, Steven Gerrard, who also recently shifted camp to the Saudi league, has aired his take on the league’s acquisition of the former Barcelona forward.

Gerrard, who got his team off to a flying start in their Saudi Pro League season opener thanks to a fortuitous mistake from Al-Nassr’s goalkeeper Nawaf Alaqidi, spoke to the media after his team’s victory.
