4 midfielders Chelsea are targeting as Pochettino pushes to strengthen squad
FootballVictor Ikpeba Reveals Why Chelsea Won’t Make Premier League Top 4 Finish This Season
- Victor Ikpeba has claimed that Stamford Bridge outfit Chelsea will not make the top four this season
- Todd Boehly has spent heavily on new players and could cross the £1bn barrier in a matter of weeks
- Ikpeba said that most of the new players are young and that it could take time before they blend
Former Nigerian international and TV pundit, Victor Ikpeba has suggested that London club Chelsea will not finish in the top four by the time this season’s Premier League ends.
Ikpeba made this claim during the Monday Night Football show on SuperSport, in which he said that it would take time for the team to gel and be a contender for the top four.
The Blues have begun this season on a fairly good note following a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home with Liverpool on Sunday.
The Independent reports that Todd Boehly could cross the £1bn barrier as the club owner continues his spending spree.
If billionaires tend to be required to own the bigger clubs these days, they rarely burn through £1bn as quickly; Boehly and co might within 15 months. Moises Caicedo should take Chelsea past £900m.
However, Ikpeba cautioned that it could take a while before the new players can blend into the team, suggesting they will miss out on the top four this season.
The Prince of Monaco said, as per Complete Sports:
“It will be a tough for Chelsea because the team is young and will need time to gel.
“As far as I am concerned, it will be difficult for Chelsea to make the Premier League top four regardless of the money they spend in the transfer.”
