The 31-year-old Brazilian superstar, who has consistently divided opinion regarding where he ranks in the list of football’s finest players, will become the latest of Europe’s elite to join the mass exodus that began with Cristiano Ronaldo to the Saudi Pro League.
Al Ettifaq’s coach, Steven Gerrard, who also recently shifted camp to the Saudi league, has aired his take on the league’s acquisition of the former Barcelona forward.

Gerrard who got his team to a flying start in their Saudi Pro League season opener thanks to a fortuitous mistake from Al Nassr’s goalkeeper Nawaf Alaqidi spoke to the media after his team’s victory. Quoted by reporter Ben Jacobs on Twitter, Gerrard said:
“The name speaks for itself,” Gerrard said. “He’s given me so much joy through the years at Barcelona, PSG and Brazil. I don’t think the boy gets enough credit for the numbers he’s put up.
“I don’t want him to come because he’s not coming to my team. But in Hollywood terms, he’s an A-list star.”
Neymar’s transfer will reportedly cost the Saudi giants a fee of around €90 million plus. It will include an astonishing salary of €160 million for two seasons, per reports from talksports.
Neymar will also receive other perks as part of his contract. These wages could allow Brazilian to earn as much as Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
