Chelsea have officially completed their signing of Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion for a British transfer record fee of £115m.

This ends a tumultuous months-long saga which took many twists and turns in the past 72 hours, with Liverpool trying to gazump Chelsea's move for a player they've courted for months.

The Blues fought back and went over their initial stance and valuation of the player after he showed loyalty to his words to the club and rejected intruders, Liverpool.

The tough-tackling defensive midfielder signed an eight-year contract with a club option of another year - something that has become a trend since Todd Boehly and co took over.

Chelsea unveil Caicedo with Afrobeat

In his unveiling video, Caicedo was seen hugging his mum, who sat in the boot of a car, reminiscent of a picture of him three years ago wearing a Chelsea shirt.

In the background of the video was a viral song by Nigerian artists Pheelz and BNXN, Finesse - a song which connotes going all out for what you want regardless of what it costs. It exemplifies Chelsea going out of their way to beat a late hijack attempt by Liverpool.

"I am so happy to join Chelsea! I am so excited to be here at this big club and I didn’t have to think twice when Chelsea called me, I just knew I wanted to sign for the club. It’s a dream come true to be here and I can’t wait to get started with the team," Caicedo told Chelsea TV.

He is yet to be assigned a shirt number, with numbers 4 and 25, which he wore at Brighton, both free. Speculation claimed his agency confirmed he'd wear the iconic 25, last won by Gianfranco Zola.

Caicedo deal: Winners and losers

Sports Brief previously analysed the winners and losers of Moises Caicedo's British record transfer fee move to Chelsea from the South Coast.

The selling club, Brighton, its fans, and the player are the winners, while the two clubs who engaged in a battle over his custody walked away with something to worry about.
