Cape Town City are celebrating the excellent start to the DStv Premiership campaign.
The Western Cape side are unbeaten after two games and are level on points with Mamelodi Sundowns.
While it may be early in the season to start rejoicing, City’s social media team are undoubtedly enjoying their unbeaten start to the DStv Premiership season.
The club’s social media admin took to TikTok to share a video of their success, using a hilarious video of two Real Madrid stars.
City used a video of Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Junior singing on the shoulder of the Christ the Redeemer statue, along with a shot of the league table showing them and Sundowns sitting at the top.
Camavinga and Vini Jr. shot that video while visiting Brazil during the recent off-season break, Goal reported.
In City’s video, the Sundowns logo could be seen on Camamvinga, while Vinicius was used to represent Cape Town City.
City will look to continue their winning ways when they take on SuperSport United on Friday, August 18, in the league. Both teams will be looking to pick up a win and bounce back from their MTN 8 heartbreak.
Stellenbosch beat SuperSport in extra time of their quarter-final, while Chiefs knocked City out, iDiskiTimes reported.
City score after linesman intervenes
The game between Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City was action-packed, but one moment stood out more than the others.
Mark van Heerden opened the scoring for City in the first half, but credit goes to the linesman for awarding the goal.
Van Heerden headed home from close range, but Chiefs keeper Brandon Petersen pushed the ball away before it hit the back of the net. Before City realised what had happened, the linesman signalled to the referee that the ball had crossed the line, and a goal was awarded, Sports Brief reported.
