Nigerian legend, Jay Jay Okocha, welcomed some of the finest footballers from the African continent as he celebrated his 50th birthday in Lagos, Nigeria.
Born on August 14, 1973, Okocha hit the golden jubilee mark on Monday as some of his footballer friends featured in an exhibition match a day earlier.
The superstars turned up at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, amongst them was Togolese legend Emmanuel Adebayor.
Other superstars spotted were Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, Khalilou Fadiga of Ghana, Nigeria’s Peter Rufai, Ifeanyi Udeze, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Julius Aghahowa, Joseph Yobo and a host of others.
They all featured in a 5-aside game at the arena, showing off skills to the delight of a handful of fans inside the stadium.
Okocha had a remarkable footballing career and despite that, he failed to win the coveted CAF Player of the Year Award.
Having had his youth career at Enugu Rangers, he moved to Borussia Neunkirchen in 1990, and after two years, he was snapped up by Eintracht Frankfurt.
The midfield maestro then joined Turkish outfit Fenerbahce shortly after the Olympic Games in 1996.
He then made a mega move to French club Paris Saint-Germain in 1998, before joining English outfit Borussia Dortmund in 2002.
In the twilight of his career, he played for Qatari outfit Qatar SC and then joined Hull City in 2007, where he retired Sky Sports reports.
