Manchester United may have inadvertently dropped the biggest hint yet on Mason Greenwood's future at the club.

Greenwood has not kicked the ball for United since January 2022, when he was suspended by the club.

According to talkSport, the youngster's suspension came after he was arrested to face a number of charges, including assault and coercive and controlling behaviour.

However, the Englishman was handed a reprieve in February 2022 when the charges were dropped when the Crown Prosecution Service cited the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light.

At the time, a CPS spokesperson said this meant there was 'no longer a realistic prospect of conviction'.

Despite the development, United elected against reintegrating Greenwood back into the team, with the club announcing they had embarked on carrying out a private probe into the matter.

Is Greenwood back into the team?

The striker was initially linked with a possible exit this summer, with a loan move to Serie A side Roma mooted at some point.

However, it seems Greenwood could be a part of United's squad in the upcoming season after the club added him back to the team on their official website.

A quick spot check by Sports Brief established that the Red Devils indeed have the England international included in the squad.

Be that as it may, Man United are yet to make a formal announcement on Greenwood's future at the Theatre of Dreams, with all indications showing he will be part of Erik ten Hag's plans for the new season.

Greenwood wants to stay

This comes at a time when Sports Brief reported that Greenwood is reportedly desperate to stay at the club despite the uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

The youngster has not kicked a ball for more than a year and a half after he was suspended by United following his arrest in January 2022.

Reports indicate that Greenwood is desperate to remain at Old Trafford as he bids to reignite his football career.
