Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita took his feud with the club to new levels as he publicly lamented about getting left out of the squad on social media.
Guaita was a notable absentee from Palace’s squad as veteran manager Roy Hodgson decided to snub the Spaniard amid reports he refused to play in pre-season.
According to reports, Guaita, who signed a one year contract extension in January, is keen on a return to Spain to join Getafe.
The 36-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation and reports claim he is keen on leaving Selhurst Park after losing his place to the likes of Sam Johnstone and Remi Matthews, per The Mirror.
On Saturday, once Palace announced their team sheet for the Sheffield United match, Guaita responded to the team announcement with a vicious message of his own as he questioned why he was not included.
“Where is my name? So how can I play for Palace?” His tweet read.
Hodgson’s take
The saga between player and club is threatening to boil over, although Guaita should have expected to be snubbed, especially after Hodgson’s recent sentiments.
“[Johnstone] is the only choice at the moment because Guaita is disenchanted with the club and has said he would like to move on,” Hodgson told the Scandinavian broadcaster Viaplay earlier in the week.
Meanwhile, SportsMole reports that two names are on the shortlist to replace Guaita; Alex McCarthy and Daniel Iversen
