- Andile Jali was sent off within the first 10 minutes of his return to face Mamelodi Sundowns
- Jali was released by Sundowns at the end of last season after he transgressed the club's policy
- The referee showed Jali a straight red card for his dangerous tackle on a former teammate
Andile Jali did not have a happy reunion with his former side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former Masandawana captain came up against his former side in the first quarter-final of the MTN 8.
With Jali being released by the Brazilians at the end of last season for transgressing club policy, some expected him to have a bit of bad blood toward his former side.
No one expected it to take just six minutes before he was sent off. Jali was shown a straight red after he committed a nasty foul on Teboho Mokoena.
Jali went in studs first and caught Mokoena on the ankle, leaving the referee no choice but to send him off.
His rash tackle against a former teammate has drawn a lot of criticism and comment on social media.
