FootballThemba Zwane Yellow Carded Before Sundowns and Swallows Game Kicks Off
- Themba Zwane was shown a yellow card for time wasting before the game kicked off
- Mamelodi Sundowns' captain was carded for saluting the fans instead of starting the game
- Andile Jali was given his marching orders for a dangerous tackle on Teboho Mokoena
If you think you have seen everything in football, think again.
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has been involved in one of the strangest moments in football, as he was penalised before time was even on the clock.
The incident happened before the MTN8 game between Sundowns and Moroka Swallows. Zwane was in the centre circle waiting to kick off when the referee came up to him and showed him the yellow card.
The referee carded the Sundowns star for time wasting, despite their being no time on the clock as yet. Zwane was carded for saluting the Masandawana’s loyal supporters along with his teammates, as he promised he would do before the game.
The referee proved to be in a real no nonsense mood as he dished out another card just six minutes later. Moroka Swallows captain Andile Jali was on the receiving end this time around as he was shown a straight red for a dangerous tackle.
Zwane was in the headlines again later in the game as he was adjudged to have fouled a Swallows player by putting his hand in the player's face. Many fans believed that he should have been shown a second yellow for the incident, and sent off as a result.
Zwane got the last laugh as he scored the winning goal in the second half of the game as Sundowns secured a 1-0 victory. Again, the Sundowns captain made headlines as fans believed he was offside.

Jali sent off against Sundowns
Andile Jali did not have a happy reunion with his former side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former Masandawana captain came up against his former side in the first quarter-final of the MTN 8, Sports Brief reported.
With Jali being released by the Brazilians at the end of last season for transgressing club policy, some expected him to have a bit of bad blood toward his former side.
