Arsenal are up and running in the Premier League and showed early signs of being a formidable force this season with an impressive showing against Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners came up against Forest at the Emirates, but the early kick off had to be delayed due to errors in Arsenal's new electronic ticketing.

When the game finally got underway, Mikel Arteta’s side typically dominated proceedings, but were unable to break down a stubborn Nottingham Forest initially.

They finally did, however, and it was worth the wait as Eddie Nketiah found the opener in the 26th minute with a striker’s goal after a brilliant skill from Gabriel Martinelli beat two defenders.

The best was yet to come for Arsenal, who beat Manchester City in the Community Shield a week ago as they made it 2-0 six minutes later courtesy of arguably their best player Bukayo Saka.

Saka received a ball from William Saliba and cut in from the right, before letting go a powerful strike which was simply too good for their former goalie Matt Turner, who was between the sticks for Nottingham Forest.

To be fair to the visitors, they had defended with a lot of discipline, but it was always going to be an uphill task to keep out a revamped Arsenal side who started three of their big summer signings Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, acquired for a combined £208 million.
