Thibaut Courtois rupturing his cruciate ligament just days before the first whistle of the La Liga season has added a sour dynamic to Real Madrid’s season.

Reports from Football Espana have stated the club would be looking to explore the latter and have drawn up a shortlist of potential targets.

Amongst Los Blancos' list of replacements, one name that appears to be favoured by many is that of Sevilla’s first-choice goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. The 32-year-old shot-stopper has been in scintillating form since joining the Andalusian club from Girona.

However, the signing of the goalkeeper who per reports from Marca has not hidden his desire to take up the vacant role at Real Madrid has been hit with a number of problems.

Madrid’s difficulty with signing Bounou

The Moroccan goalkeeper who was close to accepting an offer from the Suadi Professional League until Real Madrid showed up appears the most assured successor for Los Blancos.

Nonetheless, recent reports from The Athletic state the Spanish giant might encounter a few difficulties negotiating a deal for the goalkeeper, as a result of a few reasons. The first being the sour relationship shared between Sevilla and Real Madrid – after Los Bancos hijacked the signing of Mariano Diaz from Sevilla at the last moment in the summer of 2018.

Secondly, Real Madrid may back out of the deal due to Sevilla’s asking price for the player. It is reported that for a deal for the goalkeeper to be agreed upon, Los Blancos will have to shell out a minimum ₤20 million. Carlo Ancelotti’s side however are reported to be filing for a season-long loan deal for the shot-stopper.

De Gea to replace Courtois?

Sports Brief earlier reported David de Gea could be on his way to Spanish giants Real Madrid just a few weeks after leaving English Premier League giants Manchester United.

Real Madrid have confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will require him to undergo surgery.

According to Goal, the injury to Courtois could mean that the Belgian goalkeeper could be unavailable for the rest of the season, so a search for his replacement has begun.
