Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar was immediately linked with a return to Barcelona after he informed the French club of his desire to leave this summer.
Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto confirmed he had a chat with the 31-year-old, who cleared the air about his next step as club football returns this weekend.
According to Sport, Roberto revealed he had a chat with his former teammate. He confirmed he spoke to the PSG star but refused to divulge the nitty gritty of their conversation.
The 31-year-old was then asked if Neymar wanted to return to Barcelona.
"I have spoken with Neymar and he would be excited to return."
Roberto added that he would welcome his former teammate.
"When he was in the team, they were one of the best years I've had in the Barça first team, we won everything. And, well, he is a very different player from all the others, I'm sure he would contribute a lot to us."
That would be music to the ears of Barcelona fans but it is unclear if a deal is feasible, considering their financial woes.

The Ligue 1 champions are reportedly ready to listen to offers for the most expensive footballer ever after he informed them he wants to leave.
The Brazil star reporterdly wants to leave because of the abuse he received from PSG fans outside his house in May. PSG fans turned out in large numbers chanting vehemently outside of his house.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Neymar appears to be on a quest to find an immediate solution for his future after PSG’s hierarchy informed the forward that he was not going to be a part of Luis Enrique’s plans this season.
The Brazilian forward has consistently remained a subject of controversy and was named amongst the list of potential replacements Barcelona could explore following the imminent departure of Ousmane Dembele.
Multiple reports have indicated that Barcelona wants to sign their former star this summer.
