Erling Haaland had a meme-worthy moment on Friday, August 11 that threatened to take away from his impressive brace in Manchester City’s first Premier League game of the season.
The Norwegian marksman jokingly slapped pundit Gary Neville on the back after Jamie Carragher had subtly insulted him at the back of City’s win over Burnley.
As far as the game went, Haaland was quick to make an impact as he found the net in the fifth minute with a close range finish, before doubling is tally with another predatory strike in the 36th minute.
Rodri, who had been sublime throughout the game, added a third in the second half to put the result beyond doubt as the Citizens began their third straight title defence in style, as cited on BBC.
After the game, Haaland was interviewed by Sky Sports pundits Neville and Carragher, but struggled to make out the latter’s thick Liverpool accent at times.
The young striker was asked to describe his goal, but had difficuly doing so, with Carragher seeing the funny side to the whole thing.
"You're a great goal scorer but you'll never be a pundit," Carrgher joked, to which Haaland replied with, “Thank you for that, mate. Appreciate that."

Moments after the interview, Haaland could not help himself as he made his way back to the pundits and this is where he gave Neville a cheeky slap as he walked away.
The cringe moment left some presenters in awe, and one could be heard saying, “I think that was friendly”.

Sports Brief also reported on how Haaland matched a unique record set by Didier Drogba thanks to his brace against Burnley.
Thanks to his goals, Haaland matched Drogba’s feat as he became only the second player to score at least two goals in an opening league match of the season for two consecutive campaigns.
Drogba achieved his feat in between 2009 and 2010 when he bagged a brace against Hull City in the 2009-10 campaign, before following it up with a hat trick against West Bromwich Albion the following campaign.
