Kevin-Prince Boateng has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.
The former Ghana international hanged up his boots after an illustrious career which saw him play for 15 clubs in Europe.
The 36-year-old started his career at Hertha Berlin and returned home to end his football journey with his boyhood club in the Bundesliga.
Boateng took to social media to confirm the end of his career.
"I love you. But that’s a wrap for me. Thank you football for everything," he wrote on Instagram with an emotional video to attach to his words.
The former Black Stars midfielder enjoyed a rollercoaster career, which saw his travel across Europe to play for AC Milan, Besiktas, Barcelona, Sassuolo, Portsmouth, Tottenham and Schalke 04. He scored 76 goals in 502 appearances.
While spending most of his time in Italy, Boateng also featured in the Serie B, where he played for AC Monza.
"Thank you for all the memories, Kevin-Prince Boateng . Enjoy your retirement, Kevin-Prince Boateng," wrote the Ghana Football Association.
Although his career with the Black Stars was short-lived due to disciplinary issues, he represented Ghana at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng, remains undecided over his future in the game despite earlier announcing the recent season would be his last.
The 36-year-old's contract with his boyhood club, Hertha Berlin, expired in June and left him as a free agent to join any team of his choice this summer.
According to the veteran midfielder, he is now reconsidering his retirement decision and will release a statement about his future later this month.

Black Stars defender, Daniel Amartey has disclosed that he had to consult former Ghana teammates, Kevin Prince Boateng and Bernard Mensah before joining Besiktas.
The ex-Leicester City centre-back joined the Turkish giants in the summer transfer window on a three-year deal.
Amartey, who won the English Premier League and the FA Cup with Leicester City, is buzzing to make his debut after being named in the squad to face KF Tirana in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
