FootballUpdated 2023/24 Premier League Top 4 Rankings After Liverpool Sign Caicedo
- Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee of £111m for Moises Caicedo
- The Reds have revamped their midfield after also signing Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister
- They have put themselves in pole position to challenge Manchester City for the title next season
Manchester City will not have an easy ride to the Premier League title next season as rivals are building up their squads in key areas ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee for Moises Caicedo, while Arsenal have paid £105m for Declan Rice. Manchester United have also upgraded their team with Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund.
Sports Brief looks at how next season's top 4 could pan out after the Reds signed a player that completes their midfield.
1. Manchester City
The Cityzens have won the last three English titles and remain firm favourites to win again this season, which would make them the first club to win it four times consecutively. The treble winners have lost Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, but still have a squad to beat while reinforcements are on the way.
2. Liverpool
The downfall of Liverpool last season was down to their aged midfield and injuries. According to The Athletic, the club have now sanctioned £111m for Caicedo, having previously paid £35m for Alexis Mac Allister and £60m for Dominik Szoboszlai to replace Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner. We could see a reignition of the epic battle with Man City once more.
3. Arsenal
Last season's runners-up have fortified their squad with over £200m spent on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber, as reported by Goal. They rode on the inconsistencies of Chelsea, Liverpool, and United last season but should be able to nick a third-place finish ahead of next season. Winning the title, however, appears like a distant dream.
4. Manchester United
The Red Devils make up the rest of the top four. A strategic sale and replacement of underperforming stars are ongoing. Onana, Mount, and Hojlund have been signed, with more set to come. If Erik ten Hag guided United to the Carabao Cup and top-four finish last year, nothing should stop him from doing it again.
Neville and Carragher agree on Premier League title favourites for next season
FootballThe rest of the European places next season could be up for grabs between Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Tottenham. At the same time, Villa, Newcastle, and Brighton could be significantly weakened by their European adventures and may struggle in the league.
Carragher, Neville predict PL winner
Sports Brief reported on two English pundits predicting the Premier League winner next season, and both agreed on Pep Guardiola's men winning their fourth consecutive title.
Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville struggle to agree on some topics. Still, it was an easy decision for both to pick City while predicting top-four finishes for their former clubs, Liverpool and Manchester United, respectively.
