Harry Kane's transfer saga: Bayern Munich adds Spurs' transfer target to the mix

- Michael Owen’s bizarre transfer advice to Harry Kane was criticized by fans on social media
- Kane is on the verge of a move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur
- Owen believes Kane should cement his Premier League legacy instead of moving to Bayern
Ex-England striker Michael Owen’s transfer advice to Harry Kane has come back to bite him as fans pointed out an interesting contradiction.
Tottenham have reportedly finally budged on their Harry Kane stance as the club reportedly accepted a £86.4m from the Bavarians for the 30-year-old striker.
It is now up to Kane to decide whether he fancies a move to Germany, with the new Premier League season set to kick off on Friday, August 11.
The Sun reports that the England captain is yet to make a decision, but he is angling towards staying in North London in what would be a huge relief for Tottenham fans.
Moments after The Athletic reported a deal in principle had been agreed between the two clubs, Owen took to social media platform X to offer some advice to Kane as he subtly dug at the Bundesliga in the process.
“I know Bayern are a massive club and I have huge respect for them but if I were Kane I'd stay put.” He tweeted.“
There's no great achievement in winning a trophy with them. Real Madrid I would understand. Or one or two top Premier League clubs for that matter."
“Becoming the all time Premier League top goal scorer at Tottenham is a bigger achievement than winning the league in a country dominated by one club.”
As it stands, Kane is only 47 goals away from matching Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260 Premier League goals.
Owen’s contradiction
While the former Liverpool man is entitled to his own sentiments regarding the Kane saga, there were hints of contradictions as he was fully behind Kane leaving Tottenham back in 2021.

FootballTwo years ago, Owen said, as cited on 101GreatGoals:
“You can't blame Harry Kane for wanting a new challenge. It's a short career and Spurs are miles off winning things at present.
“It was now or never. He's shown great loyalty but it would be a huge shame if he finished his career with no medals to show for it.”
Michael Owen’s PL prediction
Sports Brief also reported on Michael Owen’s Premier League title prediction as he tipped Manchester City to win a fourth title in a row.
According to the former England international, the Gunners are on course to finish second once again, with Liverpool and United completing the top four podium.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are predicted to finish fifth, going by Owen's projection, while Newcastle will only manage a seventh-place finish behind Aston Villa.
