EA Sports has introduced Lionel Messi's infamous celebration against Louis Van Gaal in its latest video game edition.
The 2023/2024 game will be the first that will be released after they ended their licensing agreement with FIFA and it will be known as FC24.
There has been a raft of additions, with fans now being able to use or spot Messi's celebration that he used after Argentina beat the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup.
The match was one of the most heated and closely contested games in World Cup history. The Albiceleste thought they had wrapped the game, only for Wout Weghorst to come off the bench and score twice to force the game to extra time and subsequent penalties.
Lionel Scaloni's side eventually sailed through, prompting uncharacteristic reactions from Messi. The often-reserved forward celebrated in front of the Dutch bench before insulting Weghorst while conducting a post-match conference.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner later revealed that he had been incensed by van Gaal's comments before the game and his style of play.
"Van Gaal says that they play good football, but what he did was put tall people and hit long balls," as quoted by the Mirror.
Ballon d'Or ceremony on EA Sports
Among the other features of the new game, fans will now have the thrill of 'playing' the Ballon d'Or ceremony in career mode. Sports Brief reported that the awards will take place at the end of the season.
The Saudi Pro League will also be introduced, just like in FIFA 23, following the influx of top-rated players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema into the league.
Manchester City and Norway star, Erling Haaland, will be the cover star of EA Sports FC 24, taking over from Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr.
