Jordan Henderson firmly holds the belief that there's "no reason" why he cannot continue representing England on the international stage.
Having earned 77 caps for the Three Lions, Henderson has now become part of the wave of Premier League players transitioning from Europe to new endeavours in the Middle East following his transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Etiffaq.
The 33-year-old's substantial move to the Gulf region has triggered speculations about his future involvement with the 1966 World Cup winners.
Some have suggested that his shift to a league outside Europe's top five could potentially curtail his international career prematurely.
Nevertheless, as a fresh acquisition for Etiffaq, Henderson firmly maintains that his dedication to performing at his best leaves no obstacles in the way of a potential call-up from Gareth Southgate.
He remains confident that his commitment and performance could keep him in contention for the national team.
"I'm focused on playing for Ettifaq and playing my best. If I'm doing that, then there's no reason why I can't play for England, as the gaffer said," Henderson said in an interview with BeanymanSports as quoted by GOAL.
He shared details about his discussion with the England manager, emphasizing his belief in his ability to contribute significantly to the team.
"Obviously, we spoke over the last few weeks about it because playing for England means a lot to me, and I feel as though I can still bring a lot to the team as I have in the last few games in the World Cup.
