The English international secured a lucrative contract with Al-Etiffaq, leading to a reunion with another Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, who swiftly transitioned back into management after his departure from Aston Villa.

During their time at Anfield, Henderson and Gerrard enjoyed a four-season partnership, not only for Liverpool but also as representatives of the Three Lions in Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.

This shared experience fostered a remarkable bond beyond the football pitch, per GOAL.

In response to inquiries about his unconventional move from Europe to Saudi Arabia, the 33-year-old conceded that the chance to collaborate with his former Liverpool teammate was an irresistible proposition.

"Stevie was a big reason obviously why I came," he told BeanymanSports as quoted by SportBIBLE. "To work with him and play under him. We need to be ready in the first week or so for the first game, but I'm sure we will be. We've had some good training sessions."

With this new chapter, Henderson is poised to launch the season with renewed determination and vigour.

"So hopefully, we can keep moving things in the right direction and definitely work together to try to make the team better and more successful," he added.

Henderson meets ex-Liverpool teammate

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Henderson meeting his former Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, following their respective mega moves to the Saudi Pro League.

The Senegalese forward joined Al-Nassr in the summer transfer window from Bayern Munich, while the midfielder signed with Al Ettifaq under another former Red.

UEFA Champions League-winning teammates, Henderson and Mane, will face each other in Saudi Arabia as foes for the first time since leaving the Premier League.
