Football"You Keep Trying": Ten Hag Hits at Reporter Who Asked About Maguire's Potential Exit
- Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag was coy when asked about transfer speculation involving Harry Maguire
- Maguire has been linked with a move to West Ham, with the Hammers reportedly submitting a bid
- But Ten Hag was keen to avoid the question on transfers in his latest interview ahead of his side’s Premier League opener
Erik Ten Hag subtly hit out at a reporter who was keen on fishing out some answers from the gaffer about Manchester United’s transfer plans.
United have had a fairly busy summer, bringing in the likes of Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Johnny Evans and more recently, Rasmus Hojlund.
This has also seen some superstars exit Old Trafford, with the most notable name being David De Gea, whose contract ran out on June 30.
As per the latest reports from TalkSport, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay could be the latest departures from Old Trafford as West Ham are keen on signing the duo.
Unite have already rejected a £30 million bid for Maguire, and Ten Hag has since been asked about the potential departures.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, reporter Melissa Reddy directly asked the United boss whether there was a backup plan in the event they lost Maguire and McTominay to the West Londoners.
“We never speak on what could happen. We need all positions; we need the competition,” Ten Hag said.
Melissa then doubled down on her question by asking whether United would look for more recruits amid potential exits, to which the gaffer replied:
“Melissa you keep trying heh? "I'm happy with the squad. I want a strong squad. I want competition."
